This page explains what Margin does with your data, in plain words.

Who is responsible

Tzuf Peleg, Kulmer Straße 4, 10783 Berlin, Germany. Email: marginboard.app@gmail.com.

The waiting list

When you join the waiting list we store:

Why: to tell you when Margin is ready and, if you said yes, to invite you to test the app early. Your answers help us decide which tablets to support first. We don’t use your email for anything else, and we don’t sell or share it.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). We ask you to confirm your email by clicking a link (double opt-in), so no one can sign you up without you knowing. The times of sign-up and confirmation are kept as proof of your consent.

How long: until you unsubscribe, or until we stop the waiting list. If you never confirm, or you unsubscribe, your entry is deleted within 30 days.

Deleting your data

Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Or write to marginboard.app@gmail.com and we’ll delete your entry. You can withdraw your consent at any time; that doesn’t affect what was done before.

The email service

We send emails with Resend (Resend, Inc., USA). It receives your email address and the email we send you. Our sending domain is set up in Resend’s EU region (Ireland). Resend processes this data for us under its data processing agreement. Transfers to the USA are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses in that agreement.

Hosting

This website and the Margin app run on Railway (Railway Corporation, USA), in its EU region (Netherlands). When you visit, your browser sends your IP address and basic request details. We use your IP address only to stop too many sign-ups from one place; it is kept in the server’s memory for about ten minutes and is not saved. Railway may keep short technical logs to run the service. Railway processes this data for us under its data processing agreement; transfers to the USA are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

No tracking, no cookies

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. Fonts are served from our own server, so your visit isn’t reported to Google or anyone else.

The Margin app

When you write on the Margin board, the app sends a picture of your handwriting to an AI service, Anthropic (Anthropic, PBC, USA), to read it. Margin doesn’t store these pictures: once the words are read, the picture is discarded. The list itself (the words, not the pictures) is stored so it can sync to your phone. Anthropic processes the picture for us under its data processing agreement, does not use it to train its models, and deletes it after a short time; transfers to the USA are covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

If you use the microphone on the board, speech is turned into words by your browser’s speech service (in Chrome, Google). Margin receives only the words, never the sound.

The contact form

If you write to us through the contact form, your name, email and message are sent to our inbox by email (through Resend, as above). We use them only to answer you and delete them when the conversation is over, unless the law asks us to keep them. Legal basis: our interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Your rights

You can ask what data we hold about you, and have it corrected, deleted, restricted or handed to you (Art. 15–20 GDPR). You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.
